No, it's not terrible, but it can't be the actual reason because there are gay men who have had relationships with their fathers. It's just like gay men who were molested as boys insisting that their sexual abuse is the reason that they're gay.

nn maybe I worded that terribly. I'm saying IF "gays are not born but made", it has to be during their first 5 years or so after birth where their body is developing rapidly and is sensitive to external stimuli. The thing is none of us have any recollection of our earliest years as infant/toddler to make any sort of connection to the theory

Maybe there are a combination of factors. There are probably a whole array of circumstances which could lead to homosexual orientation.

I remember being attracted to men pretty early on but my father left when I was three.

I don't have a good relationship with my dad but I knew that I was gay way before that. Back then we had a good relationship and I was 10 when I realised that I was gay.

I don't think it would have an effect on sexuality and it goes against the whole being born gay. And also it doesn't account for the many other with terrible relationship with their fathers but aren't even remotely gay.

If it influence anything it would be how you view homosexuality and the concept of masculinity and femininity. (i.e. You no longer have the pressure from the father figure to suppress homosexual tendencies.)

We will never know, but most of the gays that I know don't have a cute relationship with their fathers. I do have a great relationship but the communication is meh. I can't judge you OP, you have a point.

There are definitely a lot of factors so pointing to one thing is unrealistic.

Nope, My dad spoiled me since birth

I wanted something and I got it

he even bought me a Jesse(the cowgirl) doll so I had every toy story character

even now he'll randomly hug me and tell me he loves me

He's told my mom that he doesn't want me to tell him that i'm gay
that if I ever bring a guy home it better be a VERY masculine guy
that i'm gay and I should be attracted to men and not men that act like women lol

What if you're a butch top who likes feminine bottoms? Or a butch bottom who likes feminine tops?

Or does he expect a very masculine guy for you because you're feminine? I know a guy like that. His dad said he needs a strong, masculine man to take care of him.
