I'm a HUGE fan of Carly but this is tragic. This song live does NOT do it justice. Part of the magic of this song is the huge ethereal smokey production which makes you feel like running away. Carly's voice isn't exactly powerhouse and so the whole thing just fell very flat.
I'm disappointed honestly. I hoped this could maybe be the start of a revival, but definitely not with that performance.
And the hair. It's like she wants to flop at this stage.
Honestly, if I had seen this perfomance I would have never bought the song D: but the studio version is really glorious like one of the best pop song of the last years but the perfomance is so flat D:
also, i love how you can tell when ellen really cares or likes about an artist, when she introduces the artist saying how much she loves them and how good their music is...vs saying, "here's carly rae jepsen..." not to mention how bored she looks and monotonous she sounds
