You need to include Salt-N-Peppa since that was an all female rap group, and really the first successful female rappers in the genre. I know "Push It" sold over one million physical singles alone in 1988, and they had several other Gold and Platinum physical singles in the 1980s and 1990s. They had great CD sales as well. Oaktown 3-5-7, another all-female rap group had a smaller amount of success. I'll have to look to see if you included MC Lyte, Foxy Brown, and some of the others. Eve, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, and I'll have to think of other early female rappers (solo or group).

Thank you! I knew SNP should rank WAY up there, and TRULY amazing considering they were big LONG before the digital and streaming era had even been thought about. SNP is virtually all physical, an even higher percentage than Missy (who did better digitally after her 2015 SB Performance). However, Missy has battled Graves disease, which left her out of much of the Digital Era.

That one is tricky, since TLC's work was mostly not-rap. Left-Eye contributed rap portions to the songs, but the other two members sang most of the lyrics. Potentially had Left-Eye not died in that auto accident in 2002 she would've broken out on her own. I liked TLC, and hated to see the group couldn't succeed after Left-Eye's passing.

I think Neenah Cherry had one successful album with two decent-sized singles. She sang and rapped.

I'm intrigued to know how you would possible be able to know that. You've created a thread and have gathered 10+ year old stats from majority of the pre-digital female rappers to 'compare' sales, you probably had an agenda to flaunt your faves digital era sales, though it seems quite petty. You got 'These sales stats are over 10 years old and are in-accurate for the basis of what this thread is trying to convey' and interpreted as 'my fave can't certify'... Really?

It's a trivial factor, though don't see why others rapper's features are included in total sales, and left eye's contribution to TLC is dismissed - Especially as features as such are compiled in the same manor you described TLC (mostly sung with a 16 bar drop). Lisa did release a solo rap album whilst the TLC hiatus mid 01, though still believe the sales should be counted - Especially seeing how she was one of the main reasons for the groups success.

I have no need to flaunt anyone's stats. All I did was make a thread based on certifications and if you take that as some stan bs then you're just as insecure as your fave.
