Thankfully for the Democrats, it's still Hillary who's winning so that hasn't happened yet.

I wouldn't characterize their anger as reckless or misguided on either side - nor would I characterize support for Bernie in that way. The anger in the GOP base is split into two factions; one is understandable and deals with their values, and that is directed toward Cruz. The other is recklessly and harmfully directed as support toward Trump and his rhetoric, his modus operandi. His candidacy is bolstered by what amounts to a cancer on the GOP; ignorance, willingness to support nebulous and undefined policy, and xenophobia.
Bernie support on the other hand comes from a place of hopefulness within that frustration. We're not doing enough for the poor, we're not doing enough for universal healthcare, and we're allowing our elections to be gerrymandered and financially rigged to hell and back in such a way that the Republicans are winning when they honestly should not be winning. While I don't agree with the methods or the candidate, the actual anger itself is healthy - we need to address these issues anyway, and bringing them to such a prominent stage as the DNC, where Bernie WILL speak at this point even if his hopes for the nomination are quickly fading, is important. It is beneficial.
But note also that Hillary is a brilliant politician and a ridiculously qualified, good candidate for the office of the Presidency; that's why she's holding up where figures like Jeb have failed. That's why she's still the undeniable frontrunner while the GOP establishment is now frantically, and perhaps futilely, attempting to unite behind Rubio. She's infinitely stronger than all of them, and in my opinion she's the strongest non-incumbent Presidential candidate that either party has had in a ridiculous amount of time (though I hesitate place a solid year amount on it). Virtually all other candidates except maybe Biden would have been steamrolled by a populist wave supporting Sanders or Warren.
