Speaking for my channel's analytics where I post some rare European songs (Estonian, Croatian, Russian and Icelandic), I get a lot of views from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
I don't know but K-Pop and J-Pop videos don't have that much views in relation to the continent's population.. it's for sure not as big as it is in South America.
isn't there a whole different section for japanese youtube that just has videos in japanese and stuff? I feel like that's how it is for most of the websites on the internet actually, like I never see japanese posts or comments on tumblr or twitter for example. idk about other asian countries
In Japan it is already huge, but it is not as big in Korea or China, the latter due to censorship. However I believe it is growing in Korea quite quickly.
The reasons that you don't tend to see comments in Japanese on non-Japanese videos are a) Japanese people will usually comment in English on English videos and b) Japanese people tend to stick to the Japanese part of Youtube.
Of course it is. There are 52 countries in Asia. How could it not be popular in at least one?
India, South Korea and Japan are in the Top 10 countries that visit YouTube the most across the world. Users will probably comment in English, especially people in India.
