Honestly? Weekly countdown would be the best. With the monthly format people get saddled with 15-20+ songs with no idea what they sound like and no time to listen to them. We were getting less that 15/10 participants on average, right? I imagine that that number would stay the same if we switched to a weekly format, there would be no loss, but a greater sample size. Additionally, more people would vote when there's a major release, while as with the monthly format , people would get turned off from the sheer volume of releases.
Then there are cases were some popular releases happen in the same month (4Walls/Closer for example) and only one wins while there's a dry month and a song that isn't that popular wins (Run). A weekly rate with a single round of voting would be more accurate to the general consensus.
(And if it's too much trouble tracking down everything that comes out each week, just noting that I'm subscribed to like 300+ kpop related channels on YouTube and know everything that comes out, would be glad to help with that. Also, only 3-12ish songs that align with this thread's taste come out on a GOOD week, so that's how much people would be rating as opposed to 15-25 songs at the end of the month.)
