It's exactly the same as it is for gay people and its a choice. For most lgbt people I think it's a good thing bc they don't feel like they're carrying around some shameful secret and it can be very liberating and relieving. About the first part, idk, if you don't have any std or anything like that why would you have to tell your gf? I mean you can keep it as long as you are loyal to her. And only if it's in the past of course.
