WELCOME TO DUCA'S TOP 20 ALBUMS OF 2009
20. "Kiss & Tell" by Selena Gomez & The Scene
19. "Sweet 7" by Sugababes
18. "The Fame Monster" by Lady GaGa
17. "R.O.O.T.S." by Flo Rida
16."The Time Of Our Lives" by Miley Cyrus
NOW: #15 - #11
| 15. Grafitti
by Chris Brown
First of all, the album is very underrated and I think it's all because of the Rihanna mess. The album is filled with great tracks, and one of them even being "Famous Girl" which is obviously about Rihanna. In my opinion, the album is a great follow-up to "Exclusive". He has some songs with electro beats, but he still kept his own style. The only downside is that most of the bonuses should have made the cut, the best example is the title track.
MY FAVORITE TRACKS:
I Can Transform Ya, What I Do, Graffiti |
| 14. Play On
by Carrie Underwood
They say 'never judge a book by its cover', but in this case you should. The cover perfectly desribes the album, it's a sweet yet glamorous album by an 'all-american girl'. She still doesn't think of her self as a diva, mostly shown of "Quitter", which is probably her most popish and most simple song so far and my personal favorite from her. The first single and "Undo It" are classic Carrie, and so are the ballads, "Temporary Home" and "What Can I Say". Great album.
MY FAVORITE TRACKS:
Quitter, Undo It, Songs Like This |
| 13. Exposed
by Kristinia DeBarge
One the best debuts albums of the year, "Exposed", is a mix of pop and R&B which fits Kristinia perfectly. She's at her best on her great debut single, "Goodbye" and she shines on the opening track "Somebody" and on the sweet piano track "Doesn't Everybody Want To Fall In Love". The best track on the album is without doubt "Sabotage", which is a dance-pop masterpiece and one of the best singles of the year. The album is amazing, I'm just hoping that it will have a follow-up.
MY FAVORITE TRACKS:
Goodbye, Sabotage, Powerless |
| 12. Battlefield
by Jordin Sparks
After the first great single "Battlefield", which sounded better live on American Idol than on the record, Jordin released her second album. It's more mature and she finally has some faster tracks ("S.O.S" and "Emergency") which are one of her best works. Her best moment here is "Don't Let It Go To Your Head", even though it's a cover, it tops the original and her vocals are amazing. My personal favorite is also the R&B jam "Watch You Go", probably her most mature song so far.
MY FAVORITE TRACKS:
Don't Let It Go To Your Head, It Takes More, Emergency (911) |
| 11. Here We Go Again
by Demi Lovato
This is officially one of the best albums this year for me. She ditched the Jonas Brothers and made an amazing and more mature pop/rock album. She shines on the ballads ("Every Time You Lie", "World Of Chances" and "Gift Of A Friend") and on the up-tempo power-pop tracks like the title track, "Solo" and "Remember December" which are one of her best songs. She also gets a bit rocky on "U Got Nothin' On Me" which works perfectly for her. Can't wait for her next album.
MY FAVORITE TRACKS:
Here We Go Again, Got Dynamite, Gift Of A Friend |
