I was lowkey surprised to learn so many gays had bad experiences with Christianity. My core friend group and the people I came out too were all Christians. I'm still a moderately active Christian who works at a church camp during the summer where the whole staff and most likely several campers know I'm gay. The people at my church who know have all been really supportive actually. I got more backlash for coming out from school friends than church friends actually. Which I now understand is weird considering I'm a gay West Virginian Christian.

But I'm also Presbyterian's and that denomination ordains gay ministers and marries gay couples within the church

Same reason some gay man assume every male is gay, some people are just dumb. BUT I agree with those who said that some are victims of abuse too, we can't generalize

Why wouldn't I assume they are homophobic? I mean these people leave by the rules of a book which literally says we should be killed.. of course I'm gonna be wary of them until they prove me wrong.

Majority of my friends are Christian and they're really accepting too. I only have like 3 atheist friends. I wouldn't be friends with a homophobe
