I find it very disrespectful and I doubt the poor deceased man would do that with anyone else. I also know that there was a time in history when it was trendy to take pictures of recently deceased people. But they were not selfies published on social media but stuff done and kept in private albums
So this isn't simple grief, it's attention-seeking grief, basically fishing for attention using a dead man's corpse.
