I had an idea for an era Katy should've had since I remembered she did a re-release in 2012 instead of a new record. My idea was that instead of a re-release she should have had a slightly darker era that was about the fallout from her divorce. It could've been called Wide Awake and make the song Wide Awake the first track and even include Part of Me as the lead single. It would have been genius for Katy to expand on the ideas she expressed in Part of Me and Wide Awake since both were huge hits and her divorce was so heavily publicized. I feel like having that darker era before PRISM would help make the message of PRISM have more impact since we never heard her struggle in her music outside of Wide Awake. I think there was potential for Katy to have a pseudo dark era and try something different but she just skipped straight to the healing era with PRISM which felt odd to me.
Do you guys think this could've worked out for Katy or would the GP have rejected a Katy that doesn't sing about being in love?
