I didn't see the evidence presented in court, but the default position of the court is always going to be to enforce contracts, so not surprising.

No court wants to set the precedent that if one party to a contract claims rape or sexual abuse, the contract is set aside.

How does Luke/Sony benefit from this? WHY do they want her so much?

People fail to understand how simple it is in terms of law.

Because in theory they gave her her career, so there is a sense of entitlement there.

Laws exist for a reason and there are plenty of cases where it was proving to be true but there are sets of criteria that need to be followed through in order to prove such crimes.

Contracts are there to legally bind two or more parties in order to not escape responsibilities they promised to set out to do for each other.

I'm anti rape as **** but this one gets complicated as she used sexual abuse as the reason for her inability to complete her contract with Sony. She needs to prove that or else there'll be no justice for Sony. Call it a corporation all you want but there will always be an opportunity cost that would be missed if she did not fulfill her contract she signed. They could've developed another artist. They could've invested their sonfs and time to other things. So yeah it gets messy just like that as Sony is actually a third-party in this situation.
