Ciara: Which New Label+Management Should She Sign With?
The news has hit and looks as though Ciara is leaving Epic and maybe her management too.
She's 30, at a turning point in her career, and has some interesting decisions to make.
Where do you think she should go?
For me I'd say Interscope, Def Jam, or Capitol. All Universal Music labels with a decent to good track record of supporting their acts. Maybe even Atlantic, as they don't have an R&B girl and do a good job with Bruno etc.
Ci seems to have exhausted all of her Sony connects, so I can't imagine her doing a shift to somewhere else there. She's leaving Epic, RCA is basically her old label Jive consolidated, and their track record with R&B acts is...interesting.
Or maybe even something really left-field like a "label-esque" partnership with Apple Music? She's big enough for it to be a big deal, but in need enough to make the risk worth it.
She just needs a freshness and I think she'll find that away from her Sony mainstay.
As for management, now really is the time to go with a mega-manager (assuming they'll want her..no shade). One who can properly fuse her music, fashion and beauty endeavours in a way that sees them all have impact.
I'm talking a Benny Media (JLo), Scooter Braun (Justin, Ariana), Troy Carter (Lady Gaga, Miguel).
A lot of these artists are scared to sign with big name managers because they tend to take a bigger percentage. But what's the point of going with a smaller name if they are getting you smaller opportunities. Go big, win big, and then renegotiate.
She needs to hire us girls on ATRL lol
