They are pretty much the same minus Rihanna actually has some decent vocal abilities. Also, Rih can't dance like Britney USED to be able to.

At their peaks, Britney was a more impressive albums artist while Rihanna's a more impressive singles artist. So not really.

Rihanna is about 10 times more global and known than Britney Spears.

Nowadays nobody can name a Britney song outside of Baby One More Time.. she is known for her scandals. People all around the world know Diamonds, We Found Love, Stay, Love The Way You Lie, Umbrella, Only Girl, .etc

Rihanna is more comparable to Mariah Carey IMO based on:

1. They are pop but mixed heavily w/R&B and Hip-Hop
2. They have SO MANY No.1 hits

Rihanna is more of a singles artists rather than an albums artists while Britney used to be quite the opposite. Also, Britney has so many iconic looks / videos / performances while Rihanna doesn't, the same way Rihanna has multiple #1 hits and Britney doesn't.

I see more similarities between Gaga and Britney, not in therms of music or style but in therms of their careers. Their huge album sales, iconic videos, the impact of their looks, risky performances, etc.
