My problem with Beyoncé is that the song does not represent her message. Why push a song that praises yourself? I don't feel empowered at all listening to formation. The song feels contrived. The messages in the video are great, but the song itself, stripped of the visuals that were released along with it, has nothing to do with black people and our issues at all, it's slightly an ode to feminists..but mostly an ode to her being the ****, just like diva, partition and others

Madonna pretended like it was her who the Catholic church was oppressing in Truth of Dare. She made it seem like the straight guy dancers of hers were the oppressed ones

None of the dancers felt that way except for two, and one recently retracted their negative feelings toward Madonna and filing the lawsuit. and I didn't get that from the documentary either. There's going to be another documentary which interviews the dancers now and they all talk about how important making that documentary was and how important it was that Madonna did the things she did and embraced them the way she did. Her relationship with them was unique to say the least

The average suburban white person is completely fine with black people and black culture, but only to a certain extent. Any more and it's uncomfortable for them.
