I love that she's educating herself, and adapting to the times instead of just shutting out services who don't pay out the money under their terms. Katy is learning the best ways to smash, that fans can have access to their music, and all artists should note that touring is the money-maker moving forward. If fans can easily access your music through streaming services, it will increase your presence on the charts, and also increase interest in your ticket sales for your tour. It's not all about getting cash up front for your music, it's about adding value to your brand as a mainstream artist, and Katy gets it! Good for her. She will have longevity in the music industry.
I don't get Taylor or the artists on Tidal limiting themselves to certain streaming services, for a quick up front cash payment. It'll be Katy dominating still in 10 years due to these types of smart decisions she is making in her career.
She's already "partnering" with everyone seeing that her music is available on every streaming service....
Perhaps they'll directly advertise her music on the app, or dedicate a main page on the streaming services just for Katy to up her visibility on the streaming apps?
