There's 4,200 kinds of religions that exist on earth today. How are people so sure that their religion is the right one and that everyone else is wrong?
The answer is perennialism. There are apparent contradictions in every religion but if we can look past them and get at the essence of all religions, we find a common truth. All religions share the same fundamental truth that was handed down from a common ancestor group. Religions are just progression of the ones that preceded them.
You should really read The God Delusion. Richard Dawkins argues that the fact some people are so prone to believe in... er... unbelievable things just because they were taught to do so since they were children might be a vestigial trait resulted by evolution.
You know, it was important that our ancestors prole were obedient when their parents would tell such things as " Don't go over there, it's dangerous", because it could actually save someone's life. But such trait of ignorant obedience has apparently misfired, and that's why we see so many people deluded into thinking some sort of god exists
A lot of it is blind faith, you'd be surprised on how many people don't research in what they set their beliefs in. It's like the US prides itself in education, yet kids in 3rd world countries are smarter.
