Why pop music is overlooked in general

Why most of you can't appreciate and give credit where is due to artists that represent a competition for your fave. I mean, I stan for Katy Perry, she's often pit against Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift, but I still like them and enjoy their music and don't feel the need to "drag" and "shade" them at every chance.

this. You can't listen to his albums and not realize how great he is as a rapper. He's so unique even though he's a douchebag and mentally unstable. Azealia Banks is basically the female version of him, only that so far she hasn't really had a big hit album unlike Kanye.

I don't get how one can legitimately hate on people one doesn't know.

Why Selena Gomez has so much success. She can't sing, doesn't have as much personality as her peers, and her latest music is just following the whole "minimalistic = mature" trend. I don't get it.

Universe is random. Having "points" is a human concept. You got lucky and came to life, make the most of it before you die. There's no point in it but that doesn't mean you get to sit there and be sorry about it and not enjoy life. Stop dwelling on things you can't change.

Success isn't about having talent, it's about how you can appeal to the masses in the current world and a bit of luck. Selena manages to do that perfectly (or should I say her record label and producers/songwriters?)
