Poor Divorce Street etc. etc.
I gave this album a little leeway for it's last cut but this one is back in the "Oh God those ****ing dodgy synths" category. It's length is excessive, like really girl. I know we shade Should Known Better for this, but my god this is the worst example. The songs picks up a bit at the end but by that point everyone's already hit skip. Dammit Janet.
eli's_rhythm and Auburn are both appalled by the length, and Vilppu adds "It gives me Thefirstalbumdonna teas with its feeling and the length, just without the quality." Ki.
Aerosol spins it in a way that makes me not hate the song: "The earliest introduction of naughty Janet. "I'd love to play for you, you're such a pretty boy" could be an innocuous lyric, but it could also be the precursor to Would You Mind. Who's to say?" Interesting viewpoint.

Since Weekend was unreleased, this is the first proper album track not from Discipline Street to get cut. And honestly? It's not the worst. The first album is cute, and although this is probably it's worst track there are definitely a few other untouched albums with some worse material. That said, it's not all that special either so I'll leave you with a resounding meh.
eli's_rhythm puts it nicely, "nice melody and sentiment, but achingly generic" and Bitchcraft also thinks " this is sooooo cute". Aerosol sets a scene for us, "That middle 8. I can practically see the extremely soft-focused camera panning up from a 15 Y.O. Janet to some studio lights blinking in synchrony with the keyboard. Pretty sure Kylie recorded this like 5 years later and people pretend to like it, so don't hate on this tragic magic." Shade, but yes.
Finally, Auburn doesn't like it, "What is this funeral procession garbage? Make it stop!" What funerals have you been to sis?

Trying to think of something nice to say about this...
Nope, nothing's coming!
At least Doggystyle Street is fun to drag, this is garbage.
eli's_rhythm thinks that "Pharell (or whoever) ruins a cute song", yeah he does that a fair bit. And I'll leave you with this apt summary from Aerosol, "This is kind of awful. It was awful when it was Superthug by Noriega and it's only slighty less awful here."

The fact that Pretty Boy was used as a B-Side for 3 different singles in the Control era

Forever Yours is not good but 20 Y.O. definitely should've lost something before debut.

n ok, so I had this at a 6 until I read the lyrics. Sorry girl, I can't help you unless you help yourself. I appreciate that she's doing a slow jam rather than another bland ballad but... this is just as bland. It's like some inexperienced writer saw the sex tracks from All For You and Damita Jo and tried to write their own version and then penned it to Janet. Actually that might be what happened. Also the track that follows it does the job so much betta.
Vilppu brings up a good point, "Her attempts at being sexual on Discipline turned out pretty badly, it's all just too literal, there's no room for imagination. I do like the instrumental though." and Auburn agrees on it being "so so so cringe. Tragic lyrics." Aerosol leaves us with some food for thought, "Ne-Yo just sucks. Allegedly." Girl, that's stale tea. We all know about Shaffer.

Now this one is an actual bop! The shining light of the unreleased tunnel. The Timberlake reference A sexy jam that lives up to the title, this one definitely pops. I mean, obviously it would need a little editing before fitting into an album but the groundwork here is very cute. Too soon for this one.
eli's_rhythm laments that "the one with the rap gets a 6 but I only know the solo one", well only one can be found on youtube s0...
Aerosol thinks that it's "stunningly tacky and amazing at the same time. It's the kind of song that would have been a hit by any newbie trollop in 2004, but was not allowed from Janet at that time." Yeah, but urban was playing any old crap and turning them into hits around then.
And Auburn is a hater, even though she gave Ruff a 10...

Everything that has left so far has been below a 5 from me.
I gave some really low scores in this rate. Even though I love her, it was just... so necessary.
