The inaugural journey of the Blue Star Line’s Titantic II, which was originally scheduled to take place this year from Southampton to New York, will be launched in 2018, travelling instead from Jiangsu, China to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where the company is reported to have business partners.
While the idea of a replica ship has captured the imagination of many across the world, plans have dragged on since they were first announced in 2013 and many are sceptical that the ambitious ship will actually be built.
Computer generated images of Titanic II reveal how remarkably faithful the replica will be to the original design features, with amenities including Turkish baths, an Edwardian gym, a squash court and a small swimming pool.
The exact date of the maiden voyage of the Titanic II is yet to be announced. But ticket, price and other booking details will be available on the website of the Blue Star Line (bluestarline.com.au) when it is confirmed.
