I'm here for the Black Lives Movement or any movement that's going to further a change for a group of people, but BLM has been highly-publicized for about two years now. It doesn't need Beyoncé or any of those late-comers to push it any more further.

By your logic of analying lyrics and pop songs, there is not a single person on this Earth that's not problematic.
So what you're saying is that BLM is better off without all the help it can get?
What is with you people losing common sense over Bey?

Well if it's a purely political statement then maybe she should have placed attention on the issue and not herself?
Very distracting.

And this is why I'm convinced that her entire BLM theme is genuine. If anything, it's hurting her career more than it's helping it.

I am sure they care about black lives and police brutality (especially Jay), but they are a careful brand who makes calculated moves. That is just reality. If they are placing themselves as the celebrity epicenter of BLM, it is for a reason.

Beyonce has quietly given $7 million throughout the past few years to the Knowles-Temenos Place Apartments in her hometown of Houston, as KHOU 11 News reported. Beyonce launched the complex in 2007 in response to the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

I love how Nick Jonas's influence on Zayn's #1 single ended Justin Bieber.

But, when she didn't say anything even though she gave money to the organization numerous times, people complained. So now she's upfront about but she's not needed. Because, it's not "genuine".
I just...
She can never win with this community

Ok. I'll be more open-minded. We'll see if this something Beyoncé truly feels passionate about and not just a persona she's putting on for this new era of hers. I always defend Beyoncé, but it just doesn't feel genuine to me. But neither the feminist thing, but I kept my mouth closed about that.

I am confident that the rest of the population has no problem grasping two concepts in one song. I wouldn't go into reasons as to why it distracts you so much, perhaps it has something to do with intelligence.

The illuminati thing is referring to the fact that the entire concept belittles her. The whole concept of some hidden society creating pop stars and hip hop artists minimizing the talents and accomplishments of artists. And Givenchy is her self-referring to the fashionable black excellence that is herself (plus it's a good rhyme).

Exactly. She's pissed off the Fox News crowd (that oddly tolerates Gaga now). Who cares?

I never really understood this whole "it doesn't feel genuine" argument. Why bother? Same thing when people complain that artists contribute to charities just for the sake of giving themselves some good reputation.
Like they donate money to these institutions and movements that will help better the world, who cares if it's not genuine? They're still doing more than any of us, bickering on a forum.

Don't you dare act like you know a damn thing about what concerns me. Just don't.
And AS IF you were giving this whole discussion a second thought before it started becoming topical on ATRL. You weren't talking about this at all before this week, as neither were most members of this site, yet I'm getting called out for making a simple observation? What a load.

Honey, Beyoncé's career is secure with or without this. Let's not play ourselves. Beyoncé has been alienating herself from white audiences for years now, starting with 4. Her career is fine and none of it is going to end it.
And also, there is more to having an agenda than just getting success.

Beyonce saying step your p-ssy up doesn't negate her feminist credentials.
But maybe you'd identify better with the Taylor Swift form of feminism?
