Every day!!! People always assume I'm Persian, and my parents really did a number by givin me an Arab name. I'm actually Cuban and Portuguese. Just today a patient was very surprised on how well spoken my Spanish is, she said " you speak Spanish really well for a Persian" after I told her my ethnic background she was very surprised an told me I had very distinct European features, which to me the comment was a kick in the face backer I pride myself a lot for being Hispanic/Latino. People come up to me and speak in Farsi all the time, I wish I could understand them, I might take the challenge and learn the language.
Whenever I go on holiday, people usually assume I'm a native of that country; even in my home country, people confuse my nationality. I've been mistaken for Spanish, Turkish, Mexican, Pakistani, Arabian, Mexican, Greek and more.
All my ancestors are from Europe, most from the UK.
Someone told me I looked Lebanese.
Others have said something similar. Perhaps they're right as I always seem to get picked for the extra security checks when I go though Sydney airport.
