Yes, the majority of the history taught is spent on 13 Colonies, The American Revolution, Drafting of the Constitution and anything that has to do with the creation of America. Really only the last couple hundred years are taught.
Thankfully, my father emphasized the learning of Mexican history, so I got to know a lot of the meso-American civilizations.
A lot of us either don't, or only learn a very brief portion of it, sadly. But in my experience, most of my classmates were so bad and misbehaved that we rarely got far in ANY subject.
