Do they study meso-american history of their country or do they start with Thirteen colonies?

Of course. In my state at least it is required to study all of the native tribes that occupied from Mexico to the modern Southwest in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Or, at least, it was back when I was younger (before Common Core destroyed our education system)

I can only speak for the mediocre high school I attended but nope! The teacher mentioned briefly Cortes and the Aztecs though! At some point the Iroquois, the Cherokee and Pocahontas were mentioned but that's about it!

Relax. I'm just wondering since I noticed that Americans are well versed in post-columbus version of their history but not before that hence the question.

Hmm, I vaguely remember learning about that stuff in school. There really isn't much to learn about it, I don't think.

Its not taught in school, public school History courses are centered around European-American history. The only things we learn about Native Americans has to do in the colonization period.

From my experience it isn't taught. They quickly mention the bering strait and move on to the "colonization" of America. Everything is centered around European history.

And more time is typically dedicated to the destruction of the Inca, Aztec, Maya civilizations than to any of the Native American tribes (who really only come up with the French and Indian War and Trail of Tears).

Yes, the majority of the history taught is spent on 13 Colonies, The American Revolution, Drafting of the Constitution and anything that has to do with the creation of America. Really only the last couple hundred years are taught.
Thankfully, my father emphasized the learning of Mexican history, so I got to know a lot of the meso-American civilizations.

Kinda. But then, they dedicate a lot of time to the major wars (Revolutionary, Civil, WWI, WWII).

In my experience, no US history class has ever really gotten beyond WWII, which is terrible because it means that we don't even learn about the major events that took place in our lifetimes / immediately before our generation... We never learn about the events that most directly shaped the world as it is now.
