Sony never owned the rights to Crash. It was Universal and then the rights went to Activision.
There was rumours going around that Sony bought it back last year. I also think Sony made a deal with Acitvision when the CoD timed DLC exclusivity deal was made

Hmm. Interesting. But I still think there's no way it's on NX when the finalized dev kit has been sent out this past month. Plus there's still the fact that Nintendo has yet to repair its relationship with third parties after what happened on the Wii U.

People are theorizing Sony is making the game but Activision is still publishing it for the PS4.
