They're being smart about it, imo, by only dropping subtle hints about his sexuality in the first one.
If they choose to explore his sexuality further in the next one, the sraight guys who saw the first one will already be invested in the character and will be interested in seeing the next one regardless. I doubt that it'd ever be "in your face" if they do choose to have him date or hook up with men in the future.
I can't wait to see this. Superhero movies have sucked for years imo.
