Something that may contribute to Homophobia in the Black community may be their love of Hip Hop/Rap which most of it tends to be not Gay friendly (with some rappers insulting homosexuality in music or in interviews, using the F word a lot) and also the protestants/evangelists/baptist Black Churches where they tend to be very Homophobic.

I think that Catholics followers in the USA tend to be more accepting of Gay people and that is a significant percentage Religion in the USA. And they tend to be White so that helps somewhat in lessening a lot of Homophobia. Although I am not a Catholic and I am aware of the Catholic Church stance on Gay people, in the USA they tend not to condemned Gay people for been Gay, but for 'Gay acts' and Gay Marriage. As opposed to preach that been just Gay is a sin.
Maybe I am mistaken but that is my perception in the USA.
