High School makes me sad because TRU is aging so poorly for me, I think I literally enjoy it less every time I listen to it. That's just sad, in the days before TPP TRU was my second favorite release of hers (behind BMUS) but now most of the songs annoy me.
High School specifically - just alright, she doesn't do a great job telling her story and it really fails to pick up where Hood Story left off. I feel like the production is also weak especially by today's standards, and I blame the production for giving the song an empty feel. There's just not a lot going on here, and it's never gonna be anything more than "cute" for me. I used to like High School more, but I've always preferred I'm Legit and I wasn't happy when High School got the single treatment instead.
I'm a big fan of Win Again and I think it's rotated in and out of my TPP top three a few times. I definitely think Win Again does a lot of things correctly and I agree with other members who see it as a foundation for future music. I don't love the chorus and I really think she could have at least kept the chorus shorter (especially if she used the extra time for more verses), and I think the length and content of the chorus hold the song back because it's just not something that people who aren't fans will tolerate. That's fine because one of the reasons Win Again was executed correctly is because it's a fan-dedicated track on the deluxe album, but the chorus is still a problem for me. Shoutout to the Nicki Lewinsky line, I love when Nicki reminisces.
