Its a very organize parade, the escolas are communities that prepare all year for this and its a competittion they have rules to follow:

And you can see people from all natiosn, genders, colours, ages
Its beautiful to see
And for people to know the sambodromo has toilets is like an open arena and you hace to paid to see the show and you can even get a costume and dance but need to.país

Why would you dress up in blackface? Just WHY? (and what they're dressed up as, gollywogs, are obviously offensive too )

yes sis, the desfiles (parades) are like the biggest event on Carnival
it's like a big challenge against the escolas (teams)
it has glamourous handmade costumes, creative lyrics, melody, and choreographies and huge floats that cross the sambadrome on wheels

OMG Mess. Even some Black spectators watching and a walking around like they are not bothered.
anyway carribbean carnival/jouvert is better.
ill pop my ass in the street to soca w/ island hunnies anyday rather than have to avoid old men in blackface
