An 11-year-old boy has been found guilty of shooting dead an eight-year-old girl in a row over a puppy.
MaKayla Dyer died after being shot in the chest outside her home in Tennessee in October 2015.
The boy, who has not been identified because of his age, has been sentenced to be held in state custody until he reaches 19, after being found guilty of first-degree murder.
He reportedly shot the young girl with a 12-gauge shotgun when she refused to let him play with her puppy.
According to WATE TV, juvenile court Judge Roach said the boy had been trained in firearm safety and had been taken hunted by his father and grandfather.
He is reported to have stated that the boy is in "desperate need of help", adding, "a child who commits first-degree murder cannot be willy-nilly turned loose into society". (Read the full article)
Well, at least we don't have a gun problem in the United States. :shaken:
This is awful, and it just irritates me that people can't seem to recognize that the US has a major issue with guns. This boy's legal guardians should be held responsible.
