Zayn's looks are really typical for a lot of Central Asians and South Asians from the northwestern parts near Central Asia, but I agree. It's dark skinned, non-white people (especially men) who are seen as threatening. The Sikh man assaulted is dark and the turban sets him apart.

Most people from the middle east and north africa have white features, so the same applies a huge number, maybe most, muslims.

It's called the caucasian race.

I am a practicing Sikh and it hurts me when I see such thing. Our religion teaches about tolerance and giving back to community.

Um... what? You need to get your facts straight.

First of all, Zayn is NOT Middle Eastern or North African. His mom is white and his dad is South Asian (Punjabi from Pakistan). Like most South Asians, Punjabi people are a mix of Caucasian and Australasian. Since Punjabis are from the northwest, closer to Central Asia, they're a bit more white or Caucasian, but not full. Therefore, Zayn is mostly Caucasian, but has Australasian ancestry.

Second, not all Middle Eastern/North African are Caucasian. It's diverse and many of the people are black-mixed in North Africa and Gulf Arab countries.

Lastly, most Muslims in the world are NOT from the Middle East or North Africa. Most of them are in South Asia and Southeast Asia. The biggest Muslim population is in Indonesia, which is in Southeast Asia. Most Muslims are NOT white.

Now this is completely uncalled for. You don't interfere with a public servent when he's on duty. To think that poor man has been a bus driver for 17 years and someone thought he'd be a terrorist.

And where are those delusional members saying Islamophobia doesn't exist? Clearly it does when non-Muslims who are mistaken as Muslims by uneducated people are getting attacked.

Wtf? This comment is so misguided. Its equally disgusting that he attacked the man regardless of whether he was a Muslim or a Sikh. The Sikh community in America has been targeted just has severely as the Muslim community but its interesting how when Sikh's get attacked the focus is still on Islamaphobia. Quite pathetic actually. But America has a history of catering to only one narrative while ignoring all others so I'm not surprised.

Actually, practicing Sikh men are targeted more severely than Muslims because their look is very distinctive and they stand out easily. In fact, a disproportionate amount of Islamophobic attacks post-9/11 have been towards Sikhs and South Asians (regardless of religion) in general.

And the focus is Islamophobia because it is Muslim-related. They've become targets post-9/11 and every single attack has to do with them being perceived as Muslims. Before 9/11, Sikhs being beaten in the US was unheard of.
