She was mostly R&B but some of her most successful songs (I will always love you, Greatest love of all, So Emotional, One Moment In Time) could be sung by Adele too.
Her biggest albums were Pop albums. I Will Always Love You isn't an R&B song.
isn't this the same girl with the huge ass that said wanted to be white or something??
this ____ wouldn't be as successful if she/he was______ are so stupid. K Michelle wouldn't be successful if she was white either.. see how we can flip the scripts all the time Michelle?
Whitney is dead and was a absolute flop before she died. She was also considered a mix between pop and RnB. Why are y'all even discussing her? K's point is that urban/soul music (sounds more commonly performed by black people) is more accepted by the masses when there's a white face behind it. And it's true.
Hello is about as top 40 pop that a ballad can get. It's just people's ignorance. Nothing on Adele's album is influenced by black music at all. All of her R&B inspirations, etc were taken out of this album (hence why it's not her strongest - her voice fits best in the blues/R&B setting).
So the arguments against Adele look ridiculous this time around. Only thing soulful is her voice but that doesn't mean she's singing "soul" music.
Do Jazmine Sullivan, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Kelly Rowland, Tamar Braxton, Tamia or Ledisi get played on TOP 40, RHYTHMIC, URBAN AND URBAN AC!!!
I THINK NOT.
Stop trying it people. Black artists can't get on top 40 singing R&B or Soul music, they HAVE to do EDM or Pop (and then they get trashed for it and accused of "selling out") but Sam Smith, Adele and others can come along and be hailed as something new and authentic whilst the black artists are relegated to Urban AC and the Soul Train Awards whilst Adele/Sam Smith get Grammys, AMAs, VMAs, Billboard Awards etc...
HERE'S A TOP 40 BALLAD FROM TAMAR'S LATEST ALBUM BUT IT WOULD NEVER GET PLAYED THERE:

Considering the vast majority of popular music styles; rock n' roll, jazz, soul, r&b, folk and reggae were all created by black people, that's a ridiculous statement.
She's right. Whether it be rock, soul, hip-hop, etc white artist have always been more successful and praised than their black counterparts that made the same music.
But black people need to start supporting their own. The same ones always complaining about Adele or macklemore don't even support black music.

I think the point of that went right over your head. 19/21 were strongly influenced by R&B/soul/blues (as well as country) whereas almost none of those influences are found on 25. Nearly every song on that album is top 40 influenced (which again is why it's her weakest).
But let me state that I don't disagree with her, but then again NO ONE has Adele's level of success and her voice/personality influence her popularity just as much as the music.

!!!!
Someone said all the black community supports is Beyoncè and Drake and I honestly cannot disagree.
I think this applies to Sam Smith more than Adele. Adele is just a kind of a fluke like Nora Jones, Lauryn Hill, Tracey Chapman and Alanis Morsette. That type of success is even rare for white artist. I say Sam Smith because his music is pure r&b and if Trey Songs or Chris Brown came out with the same music they wouldn't get the same recognition and success that Sam has gotten.
