Billboard hasn’t published the actual number of sales of Anti, but it has stated that the album debuted at number 27 on this week’s chart. In an article announcing the record’s placement, the publication said that a “small number of sales for the Anti album were registered,” but it didn’t specify how many. That’s a much lower position than many were expecting, but don’t worry, Rihanna fans—that number won’t stick. The album only had a little over one day of activity to help it chart, so starting its life so far down the ranking isn’t actually that strange. There’s a long history of massive singles and albums beginning lower on the ranking than they normally would because of odd release days and then bounding up the charts. This coming charting week, Anti has a fair chance of ending up at number one.
The media has another story. Blogs began running with the story that Anti only sold 460 in its first week in the U.S. Plenty of outlets ran with the tiny figure yesterday, and the New York Times cited an unnamed source with access to the sales data as saying that number was correct. If that’s the case, it calls into question Tidal’s figures.
Having said that, it would be very odd for an album to appear on the Billboard 200 at number 27 with only around 500 copies in sales. To put that figure into charting perspective, the number ten album this week, Bryson Tiller’s TRAPSOUL, shifted 31,000 units, combining streams and sales. Even with its 4-plus million streams, a claim of less than 500 sales is quite odd. The split between sales and streaming is typically a lot more even when it comes to an album charting, and there haven’t been many cases where one streaming platform’s numbers lead the charge by an enormous margin.
But wait. Those things/forgot the fan base, were clinging to 460. *giggles hysterically* I mean, when education and common sense are lacking, it's expected *giggles hysterically*

but I thought Navy said it was 20 minute and over a full day of sales?
