Gaga gets dragged on ATRL a lot, even when other pop girls fail to achieve what she has, and I don't understand why the standard is much higher for her than it is for others-

-ARTPOP is mocked as a flop, but Gaga has outsold ANTi (with FREE SALES), Britney Jean, Rebel Heart, Me. I Am Mariah, My Everything, The New Classic, The Pink Print, and many other major albums which are better regarded
-She's mocked for her singles flopping, but Applause was #4 on the hot 100 and DWUW almost wnet top 10 with no video. GUY indeed did poorly, but it also had no promo, very similar to Beyonce's Pretty Hurts which never even charted
-She's won many Grammys, a Golden Globe, and is Oscar-Nominated, but we're still told the critics do not respect her despite very few other people's favs fitting into this
-Anyone who works with her talks about how nice she is, but apparently she's still a fake b****

Why is the standard so much higher for Gaga than it is other girls? Is it because she's more talented, and therefore expectations are higher?

Because she is the artist of our generation.

Because she was supposed to be the MOST POPULAR POP STAR IN THE WORLD according to Guinness or something.

Because of how incredible her peak/career was pre-ARTPOP.

All that pent-up frustration over the years came out the moment Applause numbers were out.

Because she writes her music, stands by her art, doesn't scrap songs from the album when they flop, isn't a label puppet and is TALENTed. That's way more than they get from their faves.

I don't think it really is All pop girls are criticised based on their previous performances and achievements, and ARTPOP and it's singles unfortunately are a decline from her previous era in terms of sales and chart performance, despite improved quality in some areas.

Also your third and fourth points I don't see people saying on a widespread basis whatsoever

From what I remember a lot of it came from how insufferable she was before and during ARTPOP and how high the expectations were - a lot because of how she hyped it. She really got caught up in a whirlwind of her own hype and ego.

That being said, she's a tremendous talent and that makes her a bigger target because she's threatening to those who stan for people that may not possess such gifts.

She's not. Artpop was still an underperformance even if not as much as Anti, and it was surprising considering how well she'd done before and how confident the monsters were

She's held to the same standard as any other major pop artist.

When an artist of her caliber flops or underperforms she"ll get more criticism then if it were a lessor artist. Just like how Beyonce did with 4, and how Rihanna is now with anti.

It's like years and years of pent-up anger that they had to suppress for so long has been running out endlessly since 2013 (a year which they still refuse to step out of).

Why are you so worried about what ATRL says or thinks tho of she's still slaying like you say?

She had a huge era with TF/M and people expected her to stay on top longer. I don't think people could have predicted that by her 3rd album she would be struggling to go Platinum.

It would be like ADELE failing to go Platinum with her next album (although Adele's peak was obviously much bigger than Gaga's)
