Really? Why? I thought that the Valentino and Natacha parts/storyline were the best parts of the show that didn't have to do with Liz Taylor.
The rest of the show was paced in a way that was interesting. Even when it was dragged down to a CRAWL with Devil's Night (also a flop), the writing was still pretty great (with the other exception being the finale). Flicker was a giant info dump of backstory on the Countess and it was overwhelming, poorly paced, poorly written and poorly executed. I blame it mostly on the fact that that was probably the time when rewrites kicked in & Gaga decided to do the full season instead of just 8 episodes. And that aside, the episode was supposed to provide backstory & depth to the Countess, but it couldn't even do that properly; she's still a surface-depth character because her backstory was shoe-horned, weak and vapid. The whole Natacha/Valentino storyline could have never happened and not much would have changed; that shows in how easily they were disposed of.
Flicker was really good IMO. The costumes and soundtrack were also perfect. It has great re-watch factor. Devil's Night and TCK were definitely the worst and complete wastes of episodes. Dull, unenjoyable and they dragged.
Anyway, glad next season isn't going to be about Slenderman. There's a rumor on reddit that next season will involve werewolves, but questionable source, of course.

Highly disagree. The series picked up the pace then on, it was having some rough episodes before that and then became consistently good to great thereafter, especially once John knew the truth of things.

Other not so great episodes are devils night, room service and be our guest, which is the only episode i never want to watch again and i wont.
She wants revenge is also kinda too cheesy after rewatching it
The only bad thing about Flicker was Gaga's acting and unfortunately the whole episode was centered on the Countess so it's understandable why as whole the episode feels rushed and bad. Idk what happened there but it felt like Gaga was back at score one in terms of line delivery and expressing an emotion, the whole time she looked like she was holding her poo.
Flicker should have been shot around the time when She Wants Revange was shot, there Gaga was at her best.

It was not as bad as a season as many made it out to be. Being able to watch most of the episodes in a row really helped - though I can understand why one episode a week for this particular season made it seem like a bore. I actually anticipated the next episode after I was done with one and so on. Elsa was meh, especially towards the end - she could've disappeared and I wouldn't have cared. What happened with Twisty and Maggie was bs and too quick I really enjoyed the singing parts as well. When I saw Patti was in it.
Preach, sis! Freak Show is not bad as some make it out to be despite cutting off Twisty and especially Gloria too early. Thank God Dandy and the Tattler twins saved the season for me to not totally call it an utter mess.
The problem with Flicker is that it was badly paced. Having a backstory was nice, but it took up like the whole episode We go from knowing like nothing about her to getting everything at once at a weird pace. Gaga's acting was pretty bad that episode too. It just added nothing to the actual story and definitely was a rewrite.

I just got done binge watching Hotel and it's SO much better. It's officially my third favorite season. I dont think every season is amazing but I love how each of them does something better than the other, with the exception of Asylum, which is pretty much great in every aspect.
Murder House - Best Plot. I personally prefer Asylum's plot but MH is very digestible and functions well as an introduction.
Asylum - Best Writing, Best Cibematography, Best Characters
Coven - Most Replay Value, Best Concept, even if it wasn't executed properly. Things kinda fell apart after BWB but the first five episodes show it definitely has potential to be a great follow up to Asylum.
Freak Show - Best Makeup, Best Special Effects. Bette and Dot alone.
Hotel - Best Set. This season definitely favored style over effective storytelling, but it was visually stunning from beginning to end.
The best scene is Lana escaping from Briarcliff. Pure slayage.
But this is definitely top 5. It was so beautiful. I wish Coven could have kept its momentum going.
