I love the lyrics and I LOVE the instrumental, but I can't get over how MESSY the vocals in the song are.
Maybe she purposely sang it in that screechy, raspy, drunk sounding manner in order to accurately convey the message and emotions in the song, but Idk. It's kind of hard to listen to, but that's just ME.

Ummm...that was definitely the intention. Her voice is meant to sound scratchy/raspy and cracked. She had similar vocals in Four Five Seconds.
You don't have to like it. Music is subjective. But I definitely think she should be applauded for trying something new with her vocals.
Also in the verses of 'Love on the Brain', she sounds like she's trying to impersonate Joss Stone. Again, you don't have to like it. But I still think she should be acknowledged for trying out new things. And trying out different facets of her voice.
The messy lack of musical knowledge in here
Her vocals are not "off key". They're intentionally smoky and jagged. It's not that hard to grasp.
Anyways, the song clearly is not for everyone Move on.
