"Have I actually had trouble keeping my hands to myself? Yes. One hundred percent.
After so many years of being told pop songs should be formulaic: verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, chorus, guitar, drums, piano, synth, harmony, melody, etc., I was so excited to sort of break that formula and put it back together a bit differently.
As this song progresses, it opens up into the makings of a massive crescendo. But then – right when you’re ready to dive in – it pulls back again into the stripped down verses."
The songwriters Julia and Justin pushed me to try new things lyrically, stylistically, vocally—the biggest change is my voice. It’s this sort of coy, whisper falsetto over a stripped-down beat that you’re not sure what to do with at first.
This album was the first time I fully let go of others’ perception of me as an artist. After so many years of being told pop songs should be formulaic: verse, pre-chorus, bridge—I was so excited to break that formula. “Hands To Myself” keeps you guessing throughout the whole song.
This is the point where I’m saying, “I could waste time being afraid, but why would I?”
You get out of a destructive relationship, you take time to learn the lessons it taught you. Once you’re ready, you hop back in because we all love to love and be loved.

Max heard the rough and immediately FaceTimed. He had awesome moments to add. We had the best conversation about my future in music. I’m grateful this was the way I started with him.
Benny Blanco & StarGate:
Quote:
Benny is hilarious and his energy is addictive to be around. He tries without even trying. He just hears things that know one else does.
StarGate – I feel needs no for explanation. What was great about working with them this time was the actual interaction, telling them where I was. I poured out everything even if it didn’t make sense.
Same Old Love:

Charli wrote the song, but when I heard it, my first thought was “ok she knows exactly what that cycle is.” I had a few tweaks and thoughts. She’s insanely humble and cool as hell. It was instant.
“Same Old Love” is about overcoming the repetition of negative love in our life. Not necessarily romantic, but family, friends, career. It also goes for self-love.
There’s a saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. This song’s about taking steps to stop history from repeating itself—to make sure that you’re not settling for any less than you deserve.
When you’re not becoming a better, stronger and more complete person because of one another, I think there’s something wrong. Love should make you feel more whole, not like a part of something that’s dependent on the other person. When you find someone who loves you for who you are, but can also teach you and change you in positive ways, that’s special.
Rock Mafia, Hit Boy, Nick Monson:
Quote:
Rock Mafia is a home for me. Everyone there has known me since I was 15. Tim and Antonina have guided me through the roughest moments. Provided me with a safe place to express every single beautiful or frustrating moment.
Nick I know through song writers – the moment you write words everyone wants to go straight to him. Hit-Boy I met in a studio. I professed my love for his work and played him idea after idea. From that moment on he’s had my back. We traveled to Mexico together and became family. He added such soul to my music.
Snoop Dogg:

I haven’t met Snoop Dogg. But he sent me a video once for my birthday.
Me & The Rhythm:

We wanted a moment where everyone could get involved. A moment in the song for every person who has felt stuck in the dark. It doesn’t matter what the world is telling you should be doing. if you’re feeling yourself, get out there.
The boys! They were so open. I always get a little nervous working with new people. I requested Justin and Julia to be there. And we became a family instantly. It was so nice to hear their thoughts. Everyone put something on the table.
M&TR is really just a feel good dance song. It’s the opposite of some of the deeper songs on the album and sort of balances them out. It’s not anti-love, but it’s definitely about feeling good without the need for love. Dancing together is one of the most human experiences we can have. This song is about letting go of stress on the dance floor and enjoying a good sweaty dance party.
I remember freedom being the first word I said in the writing session. We all went from there. All the pressure was kind of off. The album was in such a great place. It was time to enjoy where I was.

Now, my favorite song changes constantly. Currently either Ginza, J Balvin, or Calvin Harris “How Deep Is Your Love.”
Good For You:

This was the song that allowed me to really let go of expectation.
A lot of people assume the song is about looking good for someone else, but it’s really about looking and feeling good for yourself in the little moments that maybe aren’t “sexy” in the obvious sense. Waking up in the morning, getting out of the shower, wearing no makeup and a white T-shirt and feeling unapologetically confident. With the images of carats, gold, Midas, diamonds and Tiffany’s, it was about creating beautiful images that embody self confidence.
It totally changed the way I look @ GFY. I thought it couldnt get any better...
And I want her to work with Julia & Michael for the next album too. Rock Mafia also.
She'll obviously work with Max Martin in the future too.

I love the way she talks about music and I'm pretty sure as she said before she hasnt even started yet. REVIVAL was just a little start for her with Interscope - to show em what she can do!
Her interviews now
She sounds so mature and actually knows what she's doing. She really sounds like she's in control of everything now!
My baby girl is a grown woman now

She is coming
"the way she starts" is with ****ing HANDS TO MYSELF... imagine whats coming!
Sounding like 'ahead of it's time' Christina talking about Hands To Myself
How? she's only talking about herself, the way she was told to do music before, she isn't comparing her music to any other musician. This was just a different experience for her.

Wait, so the music video was actually a great vision of what the song was supposed to mean
