The Japanese would have to be a minority group for a member of another culture to appropriate, or misappropriate as some have referred to here. The irony here is that if Rita was to move to Japan, she would become a minority. This isn't an issue of someone who has misappropriated elements of Japanese culture disrespectfully and one who has managed to not be oppressed whilst mimicking a geisha, who is a person of oppression.
