That doesn't mean whitewashing because black people influenced basically every genre today.

R&B combines pop, hip hop, dance, funk, soul and is derived from earlier music by black artists (jazz, blues then soul, funk, by African Americans) and has since transitioned into a genre that consists of many but has always maintained its definition.
She has pop music that doesn't suit those genres, but she
is heavily influenced by black artists and black music that was once contemporary R&B (Whitney, Janet, Mariah). We're not in the 1940s, nor the 1970s. So if Rih isn't R&B, then wtf is?
We can't just out-write call her a pop artist, when the majority of her music is influenced by Caribbeans as well as Africans.
