she came out of literally nowhere when people didn't even knew nothing about her and her material. it's a biT annoying tbh.
and she seems to lack something to hold the audience attention.
She did not come from nowhere, she came from Youtube garnering millions of views (and two EP's), & accumulated fans who then purchased her album & helped skyrocket her debut to #2 on the charts.
There is, unless an artist smashes the charts right off their debut they're considered 'lacking' by ATRL. In Tori's debut she was able to achieve a #2 peaking album, has achieved critical acclaim for her vocal ability & has become grammy-nominated, but none of that matters to ATRL because her music isn't club-banging & she isn't controversial enough (thus being labelled boring).
I do agree she needs to develop a sound that can help utilise the true intensity of her voice and appeals to radio, but for a debut she's done spectacularly well, and currently doing a second leg of her sold-out tours proves that the gp is slowly warming up to her more than ATRL is.
See you next week in another thread attempting to drag Queen Tori Kelly.
Her VMA performance of Should've Been Us was amazing, and it was the only time any of her music sounding dynamic. I wish her songs packed a punch in real life like that performance did, because I hate when people say this about artist, but her music really is very boring.
That was the only time she impressed me. I saw a spark there, a shame it's gone out so quickly.
Tori has a cute look and a great voice. That's not enough. Her productions are cheap and RadioDisney to the max. She doesn't use the best parts of her voice in her singles, so often you mistake a song of hers for a Kelly Clarkson single. That's why I call her Tori Kelly Clarkson.
She needs to start doing angsty R&B-flavored radio material. Lots of crisp runs. Hard hitting production to emphasize the climaxes. And she needs to feature on another song with Bruno Mars or someone of that nature.
