Her Metascore would be higher without this tripe opening the album.

Lead singles are supposed to come before the album does. She switched up the format to fit what would work in her best interest-which is to not have to worry about the chart performance of a lead single anchored solely by radio airplay and Itunes. She said herself she didnt want it to be about the single or the expectations. Surprise album are now a trend so her risk paid off in that regard

But singles are Beyonce's weak spot anyway. Individually the songs are kinda meh. Even with SL it wasn't until it was viral that the song was listenable. Run The World is equally as bad and unfortunately the video didn't help either and that really affected her alboom sells.

Releasing the album altogether means the fate of the album doesn't rest on the gpee liking one song. The video for every song also means the video effect immediately after release.
