This campaign may be ineffective so far in reaching the masses, or even the base,
but it does not matter.
If they were trying to sell this album in the normal way, it would matter.
It would matter to miss out on the Christmas shopping season.
It would matter to turn off so many with an ArtPop-ish campaign.
It would matter to release an album from a hits artist with no current hit.
But none of this matters because this album will not be sold in the normal way.
This campaign will never go viral, its much too arty and obscure,
but on New Year's Eve, when R8 is open, something else will go very very viral.
The special codes that get you a "free" download of the album.
These codes will spread like wild fire, and you'll get to redeem them starting New Year's Day.
It won't actually be free because Samsung will be paying Rih for each and every copy,
and Billboard will count these millions of downloads under revised rules for 2016,
and Rih will instantly have an album as big as Adele's.
Physical copies and deluxe editions, at normal prices, will come a week or two later.
Happy New Year everybody!
