Justin speaks out about Janet wardrobe malfunction.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE has come to regret the way he handled JANET JACKSON's wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl Half-Time Show, insisting he should have been more supportive.
The Cry Me A River singer was performing onstage with Jackson and ripped open her jacket breast to reveal a naked boob to the world on live TV.
As the scandal of the big reveal escalated, the singer spoke out and confessed he had no idea Jackson intended to go topless - if that, indeed, was her intention.
Timberlake distanced himself from the incident and from Jackson, but now feels he could have handled the controversy and the fall-out from the show a lot better.
He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I wish I had supported Janet more. I am not sorry I apologised, but I wish I had been there more for Janet."

The apologies should be mutual. Janet should have been more conciliatory after the incident and she should have respected/understood Justin's reasons for wanting to sweep it under the rug instead of making bitter remarks about him.

Too little, too late Justin. This was what turned me off from Justin. He let Janet take full heat for the debacle at the Super Bowl and both got blacklisted from the Grammys that year until he went "Cry A River" to the Grammys to let him go. I've had the misfortune of meeting him with Britney before in LA and he was such an ass, but that's another story. He's apparently the Golden Boy, therefore he can do no wrong. He's a an arrogant person in my opinion, but definitely super talented.

I don't get why many people think he isn't talented. He is one of the best dancers out there, his vocals are strong and beautiful, his stage-presence is unbelievable, and he is one of the most charismatic artists out there.

You know JT loves to hold grudges and doesn't know how to move on.... He uses such things for publicity.

He's a good dancer, a good vocalist, very charming, handsome, and he can play instruments but the length of time that passes between his albums speaks volumes. He's not a good songwriter--once you've heard two or three of his songs you've pretty much heard them all. He can't act either but he pretends he can just so he can stall for time between albums.

I agree, but taking such a long time to record an album doesn't reduce his talent an inch, does it?

Not necessarily, but nobody on ATRL cuts Christina that sort of slack, do they? Justin's had over a decade now to diversify and he hasn't really succeeded. Even the songs he writes for other people all sound same-y. He's like Ne-Yo in that sense, except Ne-Yo actually writes smart lyrics. Songwriting (melody, composition, lyrics) is the biggest litmus test by which you should judge a musician; singing, dancing, and stage presence are all secondary.

How about Stefani Germanotta (???) aka Lady GaGa? In a span of little less than a year, she has "successfully" shifted onto a different bar, sonically and visually.

I'm really impressed by her because she's trying to deliver on all fronts. Her melodies are always ace and she's a beautiful pianist, but her concepts are usually muddled and her lyrics leave a lot to be desired. She's still a newcomer though so she's got time and plenty of room for improvement.
Anyways, let's keep this thread on topic.

Exactly, I wouldn't call him a great musician, but as an individual artist, he's quite talented. I'm a Pop music fan after all; singing, dancing, and stage presence are what matter to me.

He has diversified a little bit, from R&B to more...dancey music I guess. He is talented, and so very hot.

Mm'kay. And that's why "What Comes Around" sounded exactly like a "Cry Me A River" rehash. When he's not writing weepy revenge ballads he's writing clichéd, faux-sexy R&B. He never really breaks new ground, he just upgrades the N*SYNC formula with each new album.
