Hor, you've grown so much during this competition! Starting from Kingdom Bells, you've improved so much as a songwriter. I love your ability to inject so much of yourself and your heritage in your songs. You have a brilliant, colorful mind and I've loved talking to you in the dub track as well. Jake, I doubted you a lot this season, but you've proven yourself to be one of the best writers I've judged in the history of this game. Even when you had an off week you always submitted something you believed in. I love the way you express yourself through your lyrics and fight for what you believe in. 2nd place is better than first in my opinion. Fefe and Hunter both got 2nd in their first seasons and came back and won their second, so I hope you come back to win season nine! Or you could become the next GotSkill/Sam and become a bigger part of the PH family and help others find their artistic voice. Whatever you do, I can only see you continuing to grow in your writing and I hope I get to witness some of it someday.

And Hunter, congratulations on winning! You deserve it all. You were by far the most consistent contestant this season. The poetic elements of your songs, as well as your precise imagery always struck a chord in me. Although you know I have reservations about your lack of emotion in songs, I could see you starting to open up and show a little more about how you felt in your later entries. Don't feel like you don't have enough experiences to write personally. Don't be afraid to show the world yourself through your songs. It's probably the most beautiful way to reveal yourself (subtweet @Hor in the dubtrack last night). You're already have an astounding amount of talent, but I still sense unseen potential in you. You can only go up from here and I hope you continue to write no matter where your PH career may take you in the coming months.

We are literally watching all of Birth of a Nation for my History of Film class.


For those who don't know this movie, it was the first of its kind in using whatever techniques in film but it's basically championing the KKK. I wish we could all ignore this film forever
