Weather depends on where you live so if you want warm or cold you can easily find it.

Case: I live in the desert so the daytime temperature is sunny and you still see people in shorts in the winter while two hours away near San Diego you have snow.

You can find any and all foods here, whatever you're in the mood for.

The downside is the cost of living, San Diego and San Francisco are out of control when it comes to rent

Yeah! I was born in San Diego and now I live in LA and I've never disliked it.
It's expensive, yes. But totally worth the price. You're never bored and rarely cold.

im from san diego and rent is expensive as hell houses in good neighborhoods easily reach the millions. even the rent in dusty neighborhoods is unreasonable. but besides that it's great cause of the weather and diversity it's worth it

I've lived in LA my whole life and have visited San Fran and San Diego. They're all great cities.

I've been there twice and all I can say is that both the city (Stockholm) and the countryside (Gotland island, lakes outside of Stockholm) are amazing places. Relaxed lives, beautiful people, beautiful nature.

California is my favorite place to live in the whole world. Like you mentioned, the constant sunshine and beautiful scenery makes it better than any other place IMO. Unfortunately, most places in CA are extremely expensive so you'll have to get a job that pays $100k+ a year to live comfortably. Also, you'll need to always have an emergency plan/food/water for 3 months of living in case of an earthquake, tsunami, or water shortage. I've lived in CA for my whole life and definitely recommend it.

You'll need around $4,000 saved, plus a reliable car (perhaps with air conditioning to use in May-October) if you want to move here and not go crazy/go broke).

I recommend going to a university and grad school (or something similar) before you move here so when you do, you'll get the high paying job you need so you won't drown in debt/exhaust yourself by working 3 fast-food or retail jobs to live comfortably.

Regarding making friends, it's only been challenging for me when I lived in San Francisco because it's so pretentious and cold there (literally cold there in summer too, windy with fog almost everyday!). If you're not pretentious and you have a decent personalty/decent looks, you'll make friends after a year or two (with your coworkers or classmates).
