I'm offended by the comparison but thats because I was in the military for 6 years and honestly had the best time of my life. I met great people and felt great to defend my country. I got to travel all around the world. Medical wise, I saved thousands of dollars. Went to Germany, Romania, Alaska, Washington, Kyrgyztan and other places. I did two tours in Afghanistan and now I'm set for my life.
I do suffer from PTSD, have Traumatic Brain Injury and have a few scars on my body so that's a bummer but I get paid $1,800 a month for the rest of my life because of it. The military also pays for my $42,000 career at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute and pay me $2500 a month to live in LA so if I can do it all over again I would.
I mean Prison will always look bad on your record so I don't know why anyone would choose that and being a Veteran or serving in the military gives you so many great job opportunities and it's not as bad as the media and movies make it out to be.

I don't think you should be offended, because there are countries out there where people are forced to do army time by law - which I couldn't think of anything worse. Being forced into the army, for me, would be just as bad as going to prison. I'm just thankful my country doesn't carry out such archaic ideals.
Military: 125k per year + beneficial for all future prospects + I'd still be free, technically.
Jail: 50k per year + permanent strike against all future prospects + complete loss of freedom.
Kind of a no brainer, military (even though there's a good chance boot camp alone would delete me ).

Honestly, if I don't know what to do with my life during my 2nd year of college, I would think about joining tbh (just for 5 years)
