Julianna Margulies might’ve just put an end to all speculation. In a speech honoring the Kings at the Casting Society of America’s third annual Artios Awards, she announced she was taking advantage of the assembled audience of casting directors. “I surprised Robert and Michelle tonight,” she said. “They didn’t know I was going to be here. They think I’m here for them, but I’m unemployed come April, and I think you haven’t seen me in a while, at least not in person, so I thought I should show up.” In other words, it sounds like her Good Wife commitment is over. And what is The Good Wife without ... the Good Wife?
Basically, all the actors' contracts expire after this season. Creators of the show are no longer writing after this season & always planned for it to last 7 seasons. CBS want another season. If they go ahead, the show's creators will stay on in a supervisory role.
...but Julianna doesn't sound like she has any plans to return to the show. They can't have the show without her. I AM NOT OKAY.
I didn't realize this was even pending. I knew they wanted to stop at 7 (with the episode title stuff, going back down to one-word titles) and expected it would stop then. I think it's the right move!
I mean, the ratings have never been good, and it's been kept on for being practically the only network drama with awards attention.
But for the first time at the Emmys it won nothing and hit a low for acting noms/total noms. And the Golden Globes finally forgot about Margulies. So it doesn't really have that going for it as much now.
Well Kalinda and Will are no longer on the show, Cary and Diane don't have a lot of screen time and it seems like they don't have much more ideas to keep the show interesting anymore. This season seems rushed, I'm still trying to figure out where it's going .It's better to end it instead of dragging it like Grey's

I've been waiting for this to be posted. Sad as I'll be to see it go, the series had a great run and ran it's course. I think it'll end in one of three ways: 1. Alicia announcing her marriage is a sham and living life on her own terms, 2. Peter being given a cabinet position and Alicia moving to washington, or 3. St Alicia for president.
Thank goodness. it's time to put this puppy to rest. It's been a good five seasons, and a pretty dreadful final two seasons, but seven seasons is great for a network show, and Julianna managed to win Two Emmy's during the run. The show deserved an award for Outstanding Drama Series since the supporting cast is so amazing, but it didn't.
Now tha the show is basically just spinning it's wheels, it's time to end it.
