I don't see why people are mad. It's giving poor kids who are often forgotten an education and a good start in life.

But poor kids, regardless of race (in the UK), are not forgotten. When you apply for university, you literally have to declare your family's earnings and if your income is below like £25000 you get a ton of grants, both from the gov and the university itself. Besides, I don't think there are any racially exclusive grants here in the UK (I only know of this one but that's because ethnic people are a minority in the legal field).
