The US has no input from the public (except them voting for punishment foods for the housemates). There is a HOH competition every week. The HOH winner makes nominations of 2 housemates. Then there's a VETO competition. The VETO winner is safe and can take one housemate off the block. If this is done, the HOH does a replacement nominee. Later that week, all housemates except the HOH and nominees vote to evict. majority rules. if there's a tie, the HOH sends one home. The HOH cannot compete in the next HOH competition. Nomination and Voting discussion is completely allowed and encouraged. It's tactical.
The UK as you see is done by nomination from everyone and votes by the public. For both the regular and celebrity seasons. Nomination discussion is not allowed.
