How is it a "damn lie"? Justin is seven years into his career and is on top of the world, both musically and in terms of celebrity. People stopped caring about Gaga and her music five/six years into her career, back in 2013/2014.
Also, take into consideration that Justin is only 21. He has a long way to go before he actually fades away.
You're honestly confusing success with actually being, dare I say, iconic. Justin Bieber is not iconic. Gaga is someone on her way to being iconic, in one way or another. Britney, at Justin's age, already had a portfolio people 40 years into their career would be jealous of.

Britney was bored with her lesbian relationship and after he was caught cheating with another girl she got fed up (because the D wasn't good -- 'Gulity' lyrics) and she was betrayed. She forgot that women can't do what men do without facing harsher consequences.
He could have been a man and dealt with it but he decided to go the female route and cry a river for public satisfaction.

Britney needed a george clooney type, a ben affleck type (ben was bored with garner), a ryan gosling type, a leo dicaprio except they have to want kids.
JT was an asshole for that but you also need to realize they were both very young, and not to be stereotypical, but he's also a guy. It takes longer for most guys to mature. Britney cheated on him and he felt hurt. It's not the way he should've handled it but a man as powerful and rich and young as he was, it's kind of understandable when you think about it.
Britney also said in 2003 that JT also wanted to get back together with her - she obviously declined hence them never going back together, which might have hurt his lil N'Sync ego then.
However, all of this aside, he was good for Britney's well being.
